Artist Interviews
As part of the lecture: Insider/Outsider at the 2017 annual Society for Photographic Education Conference in Orlando, Florida, artists were interviewed about how the insider and outsider perspective exists in their work.
As we continually navigate new territories in our work, photography becomes both a reflection of and a reaction to changes in our broader world. The themes that exist within the work of the artists interviewed vary widely but they all use photography as a tool to ask questions; engaging with the desire for a less violent, more peaceful, and more inclusive world. While they are all seeking answers for themselves, they are vessels through which an important dialogue can take place.
